Sam & Mark's Big Friday Wind-Up wins best entertainment programme at the RTS North awards!!!
October
Hacker Time and Sam & Mark's Big Friday Wind-Up both receive BAFTA 2014 nominations - maybe this year???
August 2014
What a roller coaster! I've totally lost track of this page, but I'm writing now from a hotel bar in Zurich where I'm working on the Euro Championships (well, at the Stadion Letzigrund down the road). Following a summer of nearly 6 weeks in Rio working for the BBC at the World Cup and then 2 weeks on the Commonwealth Games from Salford, it's fair to say it's been a mad summer. And topping all that, I get married next month! And also 3 of my shows, Hacker Time, Sam & Mark's Big Friday Wind-Up and Absolute Genius were nominated for BAFTA's..This is some year..
August
As I've always been a champion of the consumer I'm editing some Rip-Off Britain at Sumners in Manchester, then I shall be starting on the second series of Sam & Mark's Friday Wind-Up at Timeline in MediaCity. More hidden camera japery. It just seems to be what I do
July
Making some Olympic guides and Blue Peter films, along with some behind the scenes films for CBBC. Also I made online tweaks to and played out 7 episodes of the popular CBeebies show Justin's House. I am now a full Justin's House afficionado, with particular respect for the work of Robert the Robot. And Little Monster will forever hold a place in my heart
June
All about Hacker Time. I no longer make TV series, I make serie. And from here on in all work will be undertaken in exchange for mince*
*Not true
May
An absolutely great month for being inside editing whilst the sun is awesome outside! Been working on a number of things, the World Series Triathlon in San Diego, the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix highlights, and started work on series 2 of Hacker Time for the BBC. Really excited to be back on a long project, have been doing a lot of short form recently so it's nice to really spend time making these shows great. Hacker also appeals very much to my frankly juvenile sense of humour so its a really good fit for me. My knowledge of fart sound fx has come in very useful! Also did some work on an awesome Lego animation for the BBC showing great Euro moments, will try and link it on here, it's so cool!
April
Edited a variety of things for Football Focus, Blue Peter and Match of the Day and some really cool presenter songs for CBBC, featuring Hacker and Dodge, check them out on the CBBC Channel
March
Bit of a mixed bag again - edited 2 songs from James's recent tour of concert halls with the Orchesta of the Swan. Getting Away With It and Someone's Got It in For Me, which are two of my favourites. Not sure when or if they'll be released at any point, but was fun making them. No exploding tellies this month to report
February
No I'm just old. Although I did cut the opener to BBC 6 Nations with exploding tellies, which was pretty cool and the opening titles for the Carling Cup Final, check them out on the BBC website
January
A whole mix of stuff from Blue Peter VTs, to Football Focus and all sorts! And I turned 29, do now actually feel old. But wise.
December
Busy onlining Deadly Art and still cutting MotD through Xmas, so a busy but fun festive period
November
More MotD and Deadly, so all pretty busy.
October
Editing a second series of 'Deadly Art' for BBC and also editing 'Match of the Day' for the BBC. QPR have never looked so good on telly....
September
Moving on to start editing 'Roasts of Christmas Past' for Crocodile Media, an hour-long doc for BBC Four about TV Chefs and their Christmas creations over the years. Also finishing and onlining 'Death By E-mail' for the Crime and Investigation Channel, a chilling piece about a internet fiend who lures people over the internet to commit suicide. Grim. However to lighten that up I've also written and recorded a jingle for a CBBC presenter, so it's a mixed bag this September!
My cut of James's On Top Of The World has gone online - check it out either through my site or YouTube
August
Working through 'When TV Goes To War' for Crocodile Media, really enjoying both the offlining and the grading, should be a great doc! Also started work on a promo for James, who are one of my favourite bands of all time, so all is quite exciting! And after a slightly shaky start QPR have picked up some points and been taken over by someone who looks like he means business - it's a good month!
July
Finished the onlines of Sam and Mark's Big Wind-Up at Sumners in Manchester, then beginning some more BBC Four hour-long documentaries for Crocodile Media, and also editing a Deadly Art Special for Children In Need on the BBC, it's all going on!
June
An absolutely mad month being totally consumed by Sam & Mark's Big Wind-Up, of which I am offlining and onlining at Sumners in Manchester. Loads of pranks and gags, very me!
May
Back to Monkey World to edit another episode and editing and onlining Sam & Mark's Friday Wind-Up for BBC, I do have a hankering for some serious prankering so it's come at just the right time. And QPR are now in the Premier League. Nothing to do with work, just nice to see written down...
April
Sex and the Sitcom aired and received universal praise, being named pick of the week in the Sunday Times, The Observer, The Mail on Sunday, The Telegraph, Time Out and The Guardian - media domination! So now I'm taking some holiday and enjoying some Manchester sun, finishing up some bits for Crocodile and sitting waiting for QPR to be promoted and then docked points......and then it's back to Monkey World!
March
After a whistle-stop couple of days working at Cactus and BBC TVC, via my front room finishing Sex and the Sitcom, I now find myself in Dorset at Monkey World, editing Monkey Life for Discovery and Five!
February
Final cuts and onlining of Sex and the Sitcom and playing out Welly Telly, whilst QPR remain top of the league.......
January
Editing episodes of Deadly Art on Avid at BBC Television Centre, and also onlining 1 episode using FCP
December
Onlined and delivered Maid in Britain, then editing at BBC Television Centre a new CBBC series called Deadly Art
November
Editing Sex & The Sitcom and also beginning to online the Welly Telly and Maid in Britain docs. Also working for Aztec Events, performing a live edit at the Good with Food awards at the Manchester Central convention complex
October
Very refreshed after my holiday, especially as QPR are still soaring ahead in the Championship so cracking on with finishing Welly Telly and about to start the 3rd show, Sex & The Sitcom
September
Welly Telly & Maid in Britain are virtually cut and looking good, I'm also having a week in Turkey for some long overdue holiday, bring it on!
August
I've added a new video to the list, a complete joke which is a song me and my flatmate wrote called 'Belly of the Beast', the lyrics were taken solely from the back of Steven Seagal DVD boxes and we also shot a no-budget video to back it up. Check it out, but don't take it seriously! The final version of 'La Ville Chiante A Mourir' is now online and looking great too after some online tweaks. While I'm not making stupid videos I am still doing my day job which is editing a documentary series for BBC Four, and it's all coming together nicely
July
Editing and grading more VTs at Cactus for the TV Book Club and also starting work for Crocodile Media, editing a new series of hour-long documentaries for BBC Four, the first called 'Maid in Britain', about the rise and fall of domestic service in the UK. The final version of 'La Ville Chiante A Mourir' is now online and looking great too
June
Heading back to London to edit for Cactus on The TV Book Club with author VTs and reading groups, and also working in Macclesfield on a video for the NHS at Mediafour. I also have just done a short stint for The Life Channel in London.
May
The VTs I edited and graded for BBC Bitesize are now online at www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/art/video, and I 've also included a couple on my clips page. The brief was as much information in the shortest amount of time. I think we pulled it off!
April
Editing for Tomorrow's Child, based in East London, making around 40 short films for the Parent Channel. I've also rediscovered some short films I edited and graded for Richard & Judy's Book Club which I was particularly proud of, as I created some cool effects to suit the films. They're viewable in the clips section, but are low quality.
More new clips - Liam Frost gig and Dan Mangan promo now online here, produced by my good friends at Duck Duck Moose and Sons, check them out!
BIG NEWS Prank Patrol has been awarded best programme in the How-Do Awards 2010!!!!! Beating the likes of Granada Reports and other such broadcasting juggernauts!!! Awesome!
March
Editing a number of films for BBC Bitesize Revision at Films@59 in Bristol. Also writing and producing music for the 'La Ville' film which is nearing completion, the cut is virtually done and online and foley work will begin shortly. Later in the month I will be starting a new project in London for Tomorrow's Child
February
Editing short film 'La Ville Chiante a Mourir' and assisting with film shoot, shot by Jacobite Films on RED cam. Also editing a music promo featuring singer-songwriter Liam Frost, shot at Moho Live in Manchester. 22/02 The Dan Mangan documentary has been taken up by a Canadian network, to be shown on Canadian TV, more to follow
January
Wrapping up the final episodes of Prank Patrol, of which the first episode 'Shark Shenanigans' airs on Saturday 16th Jan, on BBC 2. This show also features some music I wrote and produced. I also ended December by working for 3 days for VBS, an online content producer based in East London on their series of 'Createurs de Futur' short films
December
Editing the last 2 episodes of Prank Patrol whilst overseeing audio dubs. Also started work on a music documentary promo showcasing the music of Canadian singer-songwriter Dan Mangan. I shall be cutting and grading the promo which is a mix of Dan playing live and an interview with him
November
Sadly Prank Patrol missed out on a BAFTA , losing out to Hannah Montana, but it was great to even be included, as it was a strong field with the likes of Hannah Montana, The Sarah Jane Adventures and SpongeBob Squarepants, but we'll be back next year. Writing and producing a new track for Prank Patrol called Bollywood Bedlam, which is to be a Bollywood-style pop song to be used in the main prank
October
Back working on Prank Patrol series 3, which we discovered has been nominated for a BAFTA as part of the BAFTA kids' vote, which is a great achievement for the PP team, especially as we haven't had a new series out for two years and it got through on the strong ratings of previous series repeats
September
Spent the month editing 3 episodes of the children's ob-doc 'Farm Camp', a Handle & Spout production for CITV. I spent a week on location on a farm in South Devon, and three weeks cutting at Films@59 in Bristol
